WCC Music Student Obed Wallis one of Top Acts in Victoria

On Friday 12th May we were privileged to attend the annual VCAA ‘Top Acts 2017’ concert.  This concert featured one of our amazing current Year 12 students and Performing Arts Captain, Obed Wallis, performing his own composition ‘Staying True’.

Obed was selected from over 5000 performers who studied Music Performance, Music Investigation, Music Style and Composition, VET Music, Theatre Studies, Drama and Dance at a VCE level in 2016 to perform in this gala concert.

Obed’s piece was on early in the night but certainly was one of the more memorable with raw emotion, talented singing and stage movement, Obed along with two of our other past VCE Music students Catherine Alfonso (2016) and Jake Kenner (2015) really set the tone for excellence on the night.

We were so encouraged by the great comments received and the amazing way Obed connected with the other performers.  It was a huge honour to see both Obed’s name and the schools name up in lights on such a highly-respected performance venue and in such a prestigious event.

Obed achieved a perfect study score of 50, with 3 perfect A+’s, in 2016 for his VCE Music Investigation studies in Musical Theatre Vocal techniques and was privileged and honoured to have performed at this amazing event. Obed took part in the accelerated VCE Music program open to all students across all instruments and hopes to continue his studies in Music and Performing Arts at University in 2018.
