On Wednesday 25th April a combined group of singers and musicians from Wantirna South and Narre Warren South joined together to take part in the Boronia RSL Dawn Service. The group lead the anthems of Australia, New Zealand and the Hymn ‘God save the Queen’.
Students and teachers met at 5:30am for a quick run through and soundcheck before the main event. Year 6 student Natania Alfred performed the Last Post and Reveille. For the ensemble took over to perform the anthems. The crowd of over 5000 were very appreciative of Waverley Christian College’s involvement in this service with many great comments at the end of the service.
Students and staff then joined together at McDonald’s for a celebration of a job well done. This is the 4th year WCC has taken part in this event.
Mr. Francis Piccin, a teacher from the Narre Warren South Campus, has played a pivotal role in facilitating all of these events and is often at the venue from 3am to set up all the WCC requirements.
Congratulations to all the staff and students involved and thank you to all who have made it possible over the past few years.
Mr. David George (Secondary Music Coordinator).
