WCC Showcase Success

On the evening of the 30th August 2018 the Secondary ensembles and a select number of Primary ensembles came together to perform in one concert, the ‘Spring Showcase’.

This concert was the first of it’s kind in many ways with all seats sold out almost a week before the show even started, promoting calls for a move to a bigger venue in 2019. The ‘Melbourne Recital Centre’ is now in sight!

This concert was also very special in that it was the culmination of work from both Primary and Secondary students to unify in one concert to raise money to support our India Preschools program. Which yielded over $1000 in tickets sales profit donated to this cause.

Student performance from:
– Secondary String Ensemble (2018 Platinum Shield winners- VSMF)
– Secondary Jazz Band (2018 GiJ National Champions Div 4)
– Small Jazz Ensemble (2018 GiJ National 3rd Place Open Division)
– Secondary Concert Band (2018 Gold Shield winners- VSMF)
– Secondary Chamber Strings
– Secondary Choir
– Octave One
– Primary Psalmist Strings
– Primary Combined Choirs
– Secondary Dance Ensemble
and our finale with over 200 students on stage for one massed performance of ‘How Far I’ll Go’ from Disney’s ‘Moana’.

With excellent student led facilitation of the evening from our ‘Student Music Leadership Team’, the Master of Ceremonies duties, Stage direction and movement and Audio and Visuals, were second to none.

Thank you to all the staff and students involved in making this night even more than it was planned to be and to the parents and extended WCC Performing Arts community we really do value you ongoing support.

Photos and Videos of this evening are available on Facebook and the WCCPA Youtube.
